- What Amlodipine scored tablet is and what it is used for?
Amlodipine Tablets contain the active substance amlodipine which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium antagonists. Amlodipine Tablets may be used to treat high blood pressure and a certain type of chest pain called angina. In patients with high blood pressure, these medicines work by relaxing blood vessels, so that blood passes through them more easily. In patients with angina, amlodipine works by improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is prevented.
- What you need to know before you take Amlodipine scored tablet :
- Do not take Amlodipine scored table if you:
- Are allergic (hypersensitive) to Amlodipine, other calcium antagonists or any of the other ingredients in Amlodipine Tablets.
- Have heart failure due to a heart attack.
- Warnings and precautions:
You should inform you doctor if you have or have had any of the following conditions:
- Recent heart attack
- Heart failure
- Liver disease
- Severe increase in blood pressure (Hypertensive crisis).
- Other medicines and Amlodipine scored tablet:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
- How to take Amlodipine scored tablet:
Swallow these tablets with a glass of water at the same time each day. You can take the tablets either before or after meals. Follow your doctor’s instructions. Check the pharmacy label to see how many tablets to take and how often to take them.
- Possible side effects of Amlodipine scored tablet:
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The side effects depend on the dose and the duration of treatment. The most common side effects are headache, drowsiness, dizziness, flushing of the face and feeling hot, feeling sick, stomach ache, tiredness and swollen ankles.
- How to store Amlodipine scored tablet:
– Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
– Store in the original package in order to protect from light and moisture.
– Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after ‘EXP’.
– The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
